Tarangire is symbolised by its many Baobab trees which are noticeable as you enter the park. The park is 6734² km (2600² miles), and in the dry season, it is second only to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for concentration of wildlife. The park is located 120 km from the town of Arusha, south east of Lake Manyara National Park and south of the large open plains of Maasailand.
Some of the animals that can be seen in the park are: wildebeest, zebra, elephant, eland, lesser kudu, kongoni, impala, gazelles, leopard, rhino, hartebeest, buffalo, gerenuk and fringe eared oryx.
