Kilimanjaro Day Trip Itinerary
Your day starts early with a pick-up from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. You will drive to the Marangu Gate, the entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park. Here, you will meet your guide and get a briefing on the day’s hike. After registering, you will start your journey through the rainforest zone, where you might spot Black and White Colobus monkeys and unique birds.
The fresh air and beautiful scenery will keep you motivated. You will take breaks to rest and enjoy the surroundings. Your guide will share interesting facts about the plants and animals you encounter. The path can be muddy and slippery, so be careful with each step. After about three to four hours, you will reach Mandara Hut, a popular resting point for hikers.
At Mandara Hut, you will have time to relax and have your packed lunch. You can explore the area and visit the Maundi Crater for stunning views of the surroundings. The crater is a short walk from the hut and offers a perfect spot for taking photos. After enjoying the views and recharging your energy, you will start your descent back to the Marangu Gate.
The return hike is easier as it is mostly downhill. You will retrace your steps through the rainforest, taking in the sights and sounds once more. Your guide will ensure a steady pace to make the journey comfortable. Upon reaching the Marangu Gate, you will sign out of the park and be driven back to your hotel.
